Library
The Duncombe Public Library, built in 1978, occupies approximately 1500 square feet in a metal building shared by the volunteer fire department which is located on the corner of Main and Prince streets, just one block south of the post office and city hall. In 1999/2000 the library received a substantial bequest to cover the cost of remodeling the interior of the library. Then in 2020 thanks to Grants we were able again to update our interior and update our computers .
The Duncombe Public Library is a state accredited library, is a member of the Webster County Library Association, and is Iowa Locator Workstation. The Library also participates in the Open Access Program and Interlibrary Loan Program.
The Library offers its Patrons normal library services, including circulation of Books, Audio books, DVDs , Blu-rays and has public access to computers, fax and copier. Recently we have added a couple iPads with learning apps for kids and Samsung tablet to access Libby for magazines and books.
Programming includes Storytime hour for children ages 3 to 13 every Wednesday from 5-6 pm and a Summer reading program. Also Book Club for adults 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6pm . Occasional other programming scheduled.
